Important information to Members
Your Board of Management met last night to discuss and determine what measures the Manning Valley Hockey Association should take in response to the COVID 19 Virus pandemic. We considered many factors including the directive we received from Hockey NSW plus our own concerns for the health of all members in making our decisions.
At the present time the 2020 Winter Competition starting date will be put back to Friday 1st May 2020. To make up for matches lost due to the late start and the desire of members to play 20 matches in the season there will be a number of weeks when senior and Junior matches will be played on alternate Thursday and Friday nights. Other week day time slots may also be required in the future depending on what happens.
During the Boards discussion concerning the HNSW decision last night it was decided that club training during the next few weeks leading up to the season start is up to individual clubs. . It is important that players who are training must be registered members of Hockey NSW so that they are covered by its insurance policy in case of injury.
We are in 'unchartered waters' as to what impact this pandemic will have on our sport and recognise that the measures taken by the Board and Hockey NSW continue to evolve and keep everyone safe. The support and understanding of our members as we work through the crisis will be crucial and we will continue to inform members regarding decisions that will be made on their behalf.
Yours in Hockey
